Sharyland scores again, this time with a reserve backfield in sophomore back Augustin Odorica as he scored from 14 yards out to make the score 47-7 with 10:32 left in the game.
And for obvious reasons, this is the final blog of the night. Hope you guys enjoyed it and check back on rgvsports.com every Friday night for live updates across the Valley
===========================================
At the end of three, Sharyland leads 40-7.
===========================================
Sharyland 40, Nixon 7: Scottie Meyer count: 170 yards rushings with two TDs; 60 yards receiving with one TD. The last TD was a 1-yard run by Meyer with 2:42 left in the game.
And I can only wish that Meyer was in my fantasy football draft tomorrow. If he was, he’d be a top five pick at this point.
===========================================
Sharyland scored on its first possession on the second half, with Scottie Meyer going 27 yards in for the score and the 33-7 lead with less than two minutes gone in the third quarter.
Meyer now is at 134 yards rushing with one TD on the ground.
=============================================
At the half, Sharyland leads 27-7. Scottie Meyer, apparently a sophomore sensation for the Rattlers, has 84 yards rushing on six rushes. Oh, almost forgot, he also has two receptions for 46 yards and one touchdown. Yep, he’s going to be a major, major weapon for this Sharyland squad this season.
Also, sophomore QB Jaryd Garza, making his first varsity start, is 3-of-7 for 76 yards and one TD pass, coming on a nicely lofted pass over the Laredo Nixon defense and into the hands of Meyer for the 45-yard score in stride.
The Sharyland defense has been impressive as well, holding Nixon to zero yards during the first quarter. Nixon finished the half with 67 yards — 70 coming on the TD drive.
Overall, Sharyland has 211 yards of offense at the half.
Remember, keep hitting refresh. I’ll be updating as fast as possible throughout the second half.
